Frequently asked questions ?
Answer: Shipments are based on the weight that a truck can legally carry. Therefore, there is a small price increase for a regular truck or S.U.V.
Answer :Auto transport is very simple. You should receive a call from the carrier 10 to 24 hours in advance of your pick up date. The driver will arrive, review the vehicle with you, and load it on the truck. The reverse happens at the delivery point. The driver calls in advance, you will inspect the vehicle for damage, and you will accept delivery.
Answer: The first thing you should do is make sure the driver understands that the damage is new and was not on the original bill of lading. The damage should be clearly noted then signed for by the driver. Notify your carrier or broker of the damage immediately. In most cases the carrier will ask for an estimate and send you payment in 2 - 3 weeks. If the carrier is not responsive and unwilling to work with you to resolve the issue, make sure you contact their insurance company and make a claim. Be sure you have all the documentation to back up your claim. False claims can result in legal
Answer: Shipping time depends on the transporter; however, we can estimate your shipping time based on historical averages: East Coast to West Coast, 7 to 14 days; Midwest to East Coast, 5 to 8 days; South to the North, 5 to 8 days. All shipping times are estimated. Do not base your transport on these examples without first contacting your shipper for actual scheduled times.
Answer :In most cases, you will be asked to make a small deposit at point of pickup and sign a shipping order. In some instances, there may be exceptions to the rule. Usually the balance is due at point of delivery. Be sure to ask auto transport company what they require before booking your shipment. This insures that everybody understands whats required.
Answer: Please clean the exterior and interior of your vehicle. This way, when the driver arrives to pick up your vehicle, you and the driver can thoroughly inspect the vehicle for any dings, scratches, and defects. Please have a minimal amount of fuel in your tank. A quarter tank or less is sufficient. If you are shipping your vehicle to Alaska or Hawaii, you will be charged an additional de-gassing fee if your vehicle has more than a quarter tank of gas. If you are going to a cold climate, make sure you have winterized your vehicle by adding antifreeze. Secure any loose items such as camper shells, truck bedliners, and cargo/ski racks. All antennas including phone, radio, and CB that do not retract MUST be removed, or they may get broken. Disconnect auto alarms, anti-theft systems, and radar detectors. Remove any car covers or accessories as they are not allowed by car carriers during open transport. Enclosed transport is different and may be allowed.
Answer: Due to the high volume of automobiles being transported, it is very difficult for consumers to locate a carrier on their own, especially since only brokers know what auto carrier is on the exact route they need for the transport of their vehicle. An auto transport broker has access to thousands of car carriers nationwide. They will verify that the vehicle carrier has the proper authority and insurance prior to your vehicle being shipped. An auto transport broker also maintains communication with the carrier during the transport of the vehicle, which allows the customer to relax during the process..
Answer: This is NOT ALLOWED. No auto shipping provider will permit you to do this because of the strict rules regulated by the Department of Transportation with respect to that. If you decide not to abide by this rule and pack any of your personal items in the shipped vehicle, you will not be able to recover any damages because those items are not covered by insurance. The auto could be subject to being impounded and all fines and expenses could be passed on to the owner of the car. Absolutely no firearms, hazmat, or illegal items.
